Ingrid Molema

Grietje Molema

Ingrid Molema studied Pharmacy at the University of Groningen, and in 1992 she obtained a PhD degree on the subject of drug targeting to HIV infected T lymphocytes. From 1992 to 1994 Dr. Molema was a postdoctoral fellow at the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, TX, USA. Upon returning to the Netherlands, she obtained a fellowship of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), and started her own laboratory at the Academic Hospital Groningen (AZG, now UMCG), where she was appointed full professor of Life Sciences in 2004. To broaden her horizon once more she was a visiting scientist in the Center for Vascular Biology Research of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, in 2009-2010.

Dr. Molema’s academic activities are diverse. She has been chairman of the Dutch ZONMW-VIDI committee (2009-2013), is reviewer for national and international funding agencies and numerous scientific journals, chairman of the University of Groningen Rosalind Franklin Fellowship advisory committee, and in February 2014 she co-founded Vivomicx bv. Dr. Molema teaches in undergraduate and graduate programs, and in recent years she has actively engaged in science education programs (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PfvdP-4Nu4). Recently she was recruited to join the University’s Talent Development team.
