Jessica Younes – Chairperson
Jessica A. Younes is a PhD studying probiotics in vaginal infections in the department of BioMedical Engineering. She hails from Toronto, Canada with a background in Nutritional Science and Kinesiology; furthemore she loves ice hockey and event planning and plans to get a job in the food industry following her PhD.
Emi Saliasi – Communication officer
Emi Saliasi is researching age- and performance-related effects on working memory at the department of Neurology (UMCG). She holds a masters degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Utrecht. She is creative and friendly and loves to organize events. She plans to get a job in the world health organization following her PhD.
Martijn Clausen – Logistics officer
Martijn Clausen is currently researching DNA methylation markers in head and neck cancer at the department of Maxillofacial Surgery (UMCG). He has a masters degree in Biomedical Sciences. He is best described as down-to-earth, adventurous, neurotic planner and solution-focused.
Nienke Renting – Co-Chair/Program director
Nienke Renting is researching “Competency-based Education during Residency” at the center for research and innovations in medical education. She holds a masters degree in Educational Sciences. She is creative in a lot of ways, likes overseeing things, but actually doesn’t know herself what to do with her PhD.
Rebecca van der Westen – Financial officer
Rebeccan van de Westen researches bacterial adhesion onto different surfaces at the department of Biomedical Engineering. In Denmark she acquired her masters degree in medicinal chemistry. Furthermore she is super organized, loves to travel and try new thing, a real people-person.
Laura Hesse – Financial officer
Laura Hesse works at the department of Medical Biology and Pathology, where she studies immunotherapy with VitD3 for allergic asthma. She has a masters degree in Biomedical Sciences and Management. She is an good organizer and planner, likes to stay busy and is a real family person.
