Valentina has a Research Master in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Bologna, Italy and a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from University College London, UK. She has conducted postdoctoral research at the National Institute for Medical Research in London and at the Hubrecht Institute in Utrecht. 

In January 2015 she has joined Elsevier as a Managing Editor and she has been involved in screening initial manuscript submissions, acquiring special content for journals and assisting editors and authors along the editorial process. She has recently been appointed as Associate Publisher for Cell Biology. In this role she is responsible for the management of a portfolio of journals by appointing editorial boards and overseeing production and marketing activities.
